Addison Whitbeck '27 and Robert Mastandrea '27, both sophomores at Saratoga Central Catholic School, are the driving force behind the school’s Community Service Club. What started as a small group has grown into the largest organization at SCC, bringing students together from grades 6 through 12. The club is entirely student-led and overseen by faculty advisor Ms. Douglass.

Addison and Robert work closely with local organizations, coordinate service opportunities, and take care of all the logistics—from creating sign-up forms to sending out details to students and ensuring every event is fully staffed.

They’ve led efforts such as food pantry collections, “Birthday in a Bag” donations for children, fundraising for the Special Olympics through the Polar Plunge, supply drives for animal shelters, and volunteering at local galas and events. Their work has become so consistent that local groups are now reaching out months in advance to request the club’s help!

Faculty advisor Ms. Douglass has watched the club grow under Addison and Robert’s leadership and credits them with the momentum behind its success.

“I can’t express enough how amazing these two are. They have put in countless hours finding service opportunities, organizing students to fulfill them, communicating through email, and meeting once a month to encourage students to bring in their own ideas. We now have just around 50 members in the club!”

Students are always welcome to join the Community Service Club at any point during the school year. As the new year begins in September, listen to student announcements and check News & Notes for upcoming meetings and details on the club’s first projects.
