Mrs. Isele and Mrs. Sherwin’s Publishing class, which is learning about evangelization through the written word, had a great experience on their field trip to Marian Press today — it’s the publishing apostolate of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception (MIC) and is located at the beautiful National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA.

The class was hosted by Senior Writer/Editor Chris Sparks and Assistant Writer/Editor Julia Rose who showed and explained all parts of the publishing process, from proposal and submission to editorial to graphic design and layout to printing and marketing. The class also got a thorough explanation of the Marian Fathers’ history (from seventeenth-century Poland through World War II to the present) and its mission of spreading the Divine Mercy message and devotion, especially through being the exclusive publisher of St. Faustina’s Diary.

A special bonus was that each student was given a goodie bag with three Marian Press books — a recent publication on Saints, including special-to-SCC St. Carlo Acutis; one by Chris Sparks himself; and Mrs. Sherwin’s book (it was published by Marian Press nearly ten years ago!).
