It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mr. Edwin H. Hammond, Jr., Principal of Saratoga Central Catholic School from 1988 until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Hammond devoted his life to Catholic education and much of his career to Saratoga Central Catholic.
During his years of leadership, he expanded our school’s academic and athletic offerings, developed an award-winning campus ministry and community service program, and most notably, established the foundation for our middle school program. His dedication to Catholic education was widely recognized, and in 2005 he was inducted into the Saratoga Central Catholic Hall of Fame, where he received the Msgr. Daniel R. Burns Lifetime Achievement Award.
Even after his retirement, Mr. Hammond’s presence remained a constant blessing. He could be found in the stands at Saints basketball games, applauding the work of our drama troupe, and supporting countless school events. His devotion to our community never wavered, and his encouragement meant so much to our students and faculty.
We pray in gratitude for Mr. Hammond’s many years of service and for the legacy he leaves at Saratoga Central Catholic. May his faith and love for our community endure in memory, and may he rest in God’s eternal peace.
