A Look Inside Science Classes at Saratoga Central Catholic School

If you're following our school on social media, you probably have noticed there is always something exciting and new happening in science class! Whether it's middle school science or Chemistry Lab with the upperclassmen, our students are fully engaged in our hands-on-learning approach.

In this short blog post, we'll go through some of our favorite experiments, field trips and activities in science classes so far this school year!

Biology Students Visit the Warren County Fish Hatchery

In March of 2024, Mrs. Sedlak's Biology students took a field trip up north to the Warren County Fish Hatchery. Students learned all about how fish are raised and released in our local area. The students even had the opportunity to feed them!

8th Graders Learn How to Save a Life

After wrapping up their chapter on body systems, Josh Otten, the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Ballston Spa Fire Department, spoke with our 8th graders about what to do in the event of a cardiac emergency.

Physics Students Test Gravity

Mr. Lynn’s Physics students did a lab on the free fall of objects and gravity of a variety of objects from different heights!

Hot Spot Island Formations in 6th Grade

Another fun one! The 6th graders in Mrs. Constantino’s class simulated hot-spot island formations using oobleck!

Stream Tables in Earth Science Class

A lab that so many love! Stream tables were used in Earth Science Lab where students changed the slopes to measure velocity and experimented to see the different stream features they could create.

9th & 10th Grade Visit the Museum of Natural History

This past fall, our 9th and 10th graders had an amazing trip to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City! What a fun and memorable experience for our students!

Middle School Visits the MiSci Museum

The entire middle school traveled to the MiSci Museum of Innovation & Science in Schenectady, learning all about the night sky and Newton’s Laws of Motion.

7th Graders Study Chemical Change with Marshmallows

Who doesn't love marshmallows? It looks like our students in Mrs. Costantino’s 7th grade science classes had fun learning about chemical change with marshmallows!

Van de Graaff Generator in Physics Class

Upperclassmen in Mr. Lynn's classes experienced electricity with a Van de Graaff generator!
