Saturday, March 11th, SCC’s 3 Odyssey of the Mind teams competed at Regionals in Glens Falls. All 3 teams came home with trophies. The High School team competed in “To Be Continued: A Superhero Cliffhanger”. They scored the highest of all teams in Spontaneous Problem Solving and won 3rd prize in their division. One Middle School team competed in “To Be Continued: A Superhero Cliffhanger”. They scored the highest for Style and won 3rd prize in in their division. The other Middle School team competed in “Odd-a-Bot”. They won first prize and will be competing at State Competition in Binghamton on Saturday, April 8th, 2017!

From Tuesday 24 January through Friday 27 January 2017, Saratoga Central Catholic will be administering the New York State Regent Exams. Parents and students need to realize the following: If the school is in session, with or without a weather delay, the Regents exams will be administered. If the school is closed, the Regents exams WILL NOT BE GIVEN. Students will have to take the exam in June 2017. On Wednesday October 12th, Trevor Oakley, Librarian (Coordinator of Teen Services) from the Saratoga Springs Public Library meet with 6th and 7th graders to launch Teen Read Week: Read for the FUN of It! He demonstrated how to use the Saratoga Springs Public Library website as well as other websites designed for young adult readers. Danielle Gill shared, “He inspired me to go to the library more.” While Colleen Hogan said, “I like how he showed us teen books.” Mr. Oakley brought a stack of newly published books and took time to read passages. “He was a fantastic reader and inspired me to read more mythical novels. He shared his passion for loving books.” Said Maura Bennett. Matthew Apy said, “He told us enough about the book to want to read, but not to spoil it.” Saratoga Central Catholic School and Trevor Oakley have built a strong relationship to assist students with research, book selection and accessing the many programs offered at the library. Students without a library card were provided with an application and are eager to use it.
