SCC Middle School Welcomes Librarian, Trevor Oakley

On Wednesday October 12th, Trevor Oakley, Librarian (Coordinator of Teen Services) from the Saratoga Springs Public Library meet with 6th and 7th graders to launch Teen Read Week:  Read for the FUN of It!  He demonstrated how to use the Saratoga Springs Public Library website as well as other websites designed for young adult readers. Danielle Gill shared, “He inspired me to go to the library more.” While Colleen Hogan said, “I like how he showed us teen books.”

Mr. Oakley brought a stack of newly published books and took time to read passages.  “He was a fantastic reader and inspired me to read more mythical novels.  He shared his passion for loving books.” Said Maura Bennett.  Matthew Apy said, “He told us enough about the book to want to read, but not to spoil it.”

Saratoga Central Catholic School and Trevor Oakley have built a strong relationship to assist students with research, book selection and accessing the many programs offered at the library.  Students without a library card were provided with an application and are eager to use it. Adam Munn commented, “ He was very persuasive in getting us to read!”  The middle school students are now reading an independent book “… for the FUN of It!”
