Greetings From Principal Kilmade

Greetings! I hope this email finds the Saratoga Catholic community in a healthy and peaceful place – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I write today to formally introduce myself as the new principal for the 2020-2021 school year. I am an Albany native returned to the Capital District after 14 years of service to Catholic schools in other parts of the country. Most recently, I worked for 10 years in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis, Missouri, a large school system in the Midwest. After high school at La Salle Institute, I studied at Villanova University for my undergraduate degree and went on to receive a Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Notre Dame. My wife, Jess, and 5 year old son, Danny, are excited to get to know the area and to connect with the SCC community. In just the first few weeks of work, it is evident how close the community is and how deeply the faculty and staff care for their families. Even as summer begins, people are diligently working to prepare for school to begin in September, regardless of the scenario in which that happens. A reopening committee meets regularly and is focused on three areas – Facilities, Activities, and Cleaning. They […]

Dear Saratoga Central Catholic School Community, During these difficult times, I am pleased and honored to be able to share good news with you. Pink Day 2019

On Friday, October 18, 2019 the Saratoga Central Catholic Volleyball program sponsored their 11th Annual Saints Spike Out Cancer Match and Fundraiser. They took time to pause between the JV and Varsity matches and recognized survivors and those presently fighting breast cancer. In preparation for the event, the SCC Volleyball team hosted a “Pink” dress down day, bake sales, and the sale of breast cancer awareness items. Pink ribbons were purchased and hung in the gym in honor of breast cancer survivors, those presently fighting and those who have lost their battle. This year, we started a “Sisters Collaboration” with our sister elementary schools: St. Mary’s School in Ballston Spa and St. Clements School in Saratoga Springs. Each Sister school created a “Pink Ribbon” photo and raised money. All proceeds were donated to the Mollie Wilmot Radiology Oncology Department at Saratoga Hospital.  This money will directly help patients with rides to treatment, wigs and scarfs. Saratoga Catholic raised $1603.35, St. Clement’s $700 and St. Mary’s $550 for a total donation of $2,853.35!!

SCC Students Support Gold Star Families

On Sunday, September 29th, four Spa Catholic Middle School students volunteered at the One Million Steps Relay event which took place at the Empire State Plaza.  The event was held in recognition of Gold Star Families Day, and coincided with a service and luminary ceremony held by the Department of Veterans’ Services that evening. The boys carried boxes, set up snacks and water, answered questions, and ultimately walked 50 miles between them.  They were well behaved and very helpful.  At the end of the luminary ceremony, the boys received a copy of Governor Cuomo’s proclamation in support of Gold Star Families day, which was very special.
