SCC Wins NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction Award for the Fifth Year!

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. (NYSPHSAA) announced its 2016-17 Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction winners. Schools can earn School of Distinction status by having 100% of its varsity teams qualify for and receive the Scholar-Athlete team award during their respective sports seasons. Scholar-Athlete teams require 75% of the team’s rosters grade point average be 90.00 or above. NYS Music Association Solo Competition

NYSSMA Solo Competition On Friday, June 2nd , five SCC students participated in NYSSMA; the New York State School of Music Association solo competition at the Farnsworth Middle School Festival in Guilderland.  This is a professional organization that evaluates student musicians.  Our students performed solo vocal pieces, chosen from the designated NYSSMA repertoire, ranging from Levels I – VI, and a sight reading piece.  The adjudicator scored and commented on each student’s performance according to defined guidelines set by NYSSMA. Congratulations to Diana Dorsey, Michaela Dorsey, LJ LaFiura, Jarrod Martin, and Kallie Tarkleson.  Each student received excellent scores with most numbers in the high 90s.  A special congrats to Meghan Barrow from St. Mary’s School in Ballston Spa for accompanying each student.

Please note that all Regents Exams scheduled from 13 to 21 June have been posted on the calendar. All morning exams will begin at 8:15 and run to 11:15. Students need to arrive at school by 8 AM. Afternoon Regents Exams run from 11:30 to 2:30. Students need to arrive at 11:00 for the afternoon exams.

Varsity Softball and Baseball compete in Sectionals!

The SCC Varsity Softball team won the first game of Sectional Play yesterday against Granville. They go on to play the #1 seed Greenwich today so please keep the softball team in your thoughts and prayers as we continue on Coach Masi’s vision moving through sectionals. Please click here for a great Spectrum News video of the game! The Varsity Softball team will continue their Sectional play tonight, May 18, at 4:30pm against Greenwich at Greenwich. The Varsity Baseball team will also be competing in the Sectional quarterfinals today, May 18, at 2pm at Veterans Park against Tamarac.
