Scholarship Deadline - May 22nd

The Saratoga County Medical Society (SCMS) is prepared to continue its support of Saratoga County graduating seniors entering health related fields (human medicine) at the collegiate level.

Our community of physicians offers an unrestricted $1,000 scholarship to two students meeting the following cirteria:
1. A copy of the student's high school transcript
2. A letter or recommendation from the high school graduate's high school counselor and one of the following - A) High School Teacher, B) Community Leader, C) Parent or Relative or D)Clergy
3. And most importantly, an essay of approximately 1500 words regarding the following: "As a newly appointed advisor to President Barack Obama's Health Care Initiative 'Team', how do you present your views?" Can his plans for universal coverage or a single payor system provide affordable health care while at the same time balancing equitable care with budgetary responsibility? We do not know the answer...That is why we pose the question!
The SCMS is pleased to present these scholarships in the names of Edward L. "ted" Gallagher, MD, Allen T. Jones, MD, Grace M. Swanner, MD
All three distinguished themeselves in their fields of expertise in medicine and surgery.
