NYS Music Association Solo Competition

NYSSMA Solo Competition On Friday, June 2nd , five SCC students participated in NYSSMA; the New York State School of Music Association solo competition at the Farnsworth Middle School Festival in Guilderland.  This is a professional organization that evaluates student musicians.  Our students performed solo vocal pieces, chosen from the designated NYSSMA repertoire, ranging from Levels I – VI, and a sight reading piece.  The adjudicator scored and commented on each student’s performance according to defined guidelines set by NYSSMA. Congratulations to Diana Dorsey, Michaela Dorsey, LJ LaFiura, Jarrod Martin, and Kallie Tarkleson.  Each student received excellent scores with most numbers in the high 90s.  A special congrats to Meghan Barrow from St. Mary’s School in Ballston Spa for accompanying each student.
